Showers crossing the water today, with light air out of the SSE with the glass holding level. On Second Beaverdam Lake, work the seam between weed and open water first. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Second Beaverdam Lake sits in Queens County, out in Nova Scotia. Height above sea level is 56 metres. At about 25 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 3.1 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. For supplies, Liverpool is 7.9 km out. The nearest city of size is Halifax, 111 km away. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Queens County include smallmouth bass, Atlantic whitefish and yellow perch. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Second Beaverdam Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -5°C in January. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Winter locks it down, and early April brings it back. The open-water window runs from around early April to about late December in an average year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. At Second Beaverdam Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Failing this one, try First Beaverdam Lake, 1.4 km away. Nothing on Second Beaverdam Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
