Soft grey light all day today, with light air out of the WSW with a settled glass. On Reynolds Lake, work any hard bottom among the soft first. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Reynolds Lake is a Halifax Regional Municipality water, in Nova Scotia. Height above sea level is 107 metres. The water covers some 30 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Around 3.5 km of margin, front to back. Stellarton sits 53 km from the bank. Westville lies 54 km off, Musquodoboit Harbour another 55 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Halifax Regional Municipality, recorded fish include brook trout, alewife, rainbow smelt, American eel and Atlantic salmon. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Read Reynolds Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Seasonal averages run from -6°C in January up to 18°C in August. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about mid December in an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Reynolds Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Biggar Lake at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm before you fish Reynolds Lake.
