Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a light ESE breeze and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on MacKenzie Lake should come off shallow cover and weed edges. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

MacKenzie Lake lies in Richmond County, Nova Scotia. Country round the bank runs to mixed forest. Surface area is around 19 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The full circuit measures close to 2.2 km on foot. Ground here is low by Nova Scotia standards. The town to know is Eskasoni 3, 33 km out. St. Peter's is 34 km away, with Marion Bridge at 38 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Being tidal, the water moves twice a day, and the fishing moves with it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Richmond County: Atlantic salmon, coalfish, striped bass, Atlantic cod and American eel. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The shape of MacKenzie Lake decides where the fish sit.
Climate records put August near 18°C and February near -6°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late December in an average year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. MacKenzie Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Peters Lake sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish MacKenzie Lake.
