Hard light and clear air over the water, with a gentle ripple from the ESE and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Little Lake should come off the shallows early and the drop later. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Nova Scotia holds Little Lake, in Cape Breton County. Beyond the shoreline you have mixed forest. About 2 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Cape Breton County. Supplies mean a trip to Louisbourg, 16 km off. Further out sit Marion Bridge (17 km) and Albert Bridge (21 km). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Being tidal, the water moves twice a day, and the fishing moves with it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Records held for Cape Breton County cover striped bass, Atlantic salmon, Atlantic cod and alewife. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Read Little Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Climate normals give 18°C for August and -6°C for February. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Little Lake rarely departs from it.
Access is not recorded for this water. Mapping shows a jetty some 1.4 km off. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Harris Lake, 1.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Little Lake locally before you travel.
