Bright, clear skies over the water today, with a faint ESE drift and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Kyte Lake around the shallows early and the drop later. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Kyte Lake stands in Richmond County, Nova Scotia. The shore lies 5.2 km out. The water measures roughly 3 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. Our Richmond County list holds plenty of bigger water. For a base, St. Peter's sits 4.6 km out. Further out sit Louisdale (13 km) and Princeville (31 km). The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Time trips to the tide table rather than the clock here. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Richmond County cover Atlantic salmon, coalfish and striped bass. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. The near bank of Kyte Lake is often the one people ignore.
Averages move between -7°C in February and 18°C in August. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. From about late April to around late December, expect open water on the long-run figures. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Kyte Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. For a change of water, Long Lake is 1.6 km distant. Check the current arrangement for Kyte Lake.
