Overcast skies today, with a whisper of wind from the ESE with the glass holding level. Activity on Granite Lake should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Granite Lake is an Annapolis County water, in Nova Scotia. This is lake country bush ground. It runs to roughly 17 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The edge runs 3.4 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The nearest place of any size is Digby, 46 km away. Then Shelburne, 59 km, and Liverpool, 61 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Annapolis County include alewife, Atlantic salmon, chain pickerel and yellow perch. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Treat Granite Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Between January at about -6°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Once it clears, about mid April, the fishing comes on quickly. Expect the water usable from around mid April until roughly mid December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Granite Lake.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Beverley Lake, 2.9 km out. Confirm access to Granite Lake locally before you travel.
