Overcast skies today, with light air out of the ESE with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Elliott Lake should be near the seam between weed and open water. The day holds up well from the day. Work the productive water thoroughly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Elliott Lake lies in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. This is pine and birch country. With some 18 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. About 2.3 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Nova Scotia listings. Head to Middleton, 8.9 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Kingston at 20 km and Greenwood at 20 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Annapolis County include alewife, Atlantic salmon, chain pickerel, yellow perch and blueback herring. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Elliott Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -6°C at the bottom of winter. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid April. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to mid December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Expect Elliott Lake to follow that timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Sandy Lake, 2.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Signs at Elliott Lake carry more weight than any list.
