Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the WSW and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at DeLong Lake is reed fringes and open pockets. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

DeLong Lake stands in Queens County, Nova Scotia. The ground round it is pine and birch. At about 14 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 2.1 km, and most of it is walkable. Supplies mean a trip to Bridgewater, 46 km off. For a city, Halifax is 122 km off. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Public occurrence data for Queens County names smallmouth bass, Atlantic whitefish and yellow perch. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. DeLong Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -6°C for January. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid April. Open water usually runs from mid April until about mid December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Anyone fishing DeLong Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Kempton Lake, 2.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for DeLong Lake.
