An even grey lid over the water, with a kind ESE breeze on the water with the glass holding level. Most of the action on Black Lake should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. The evening is where the day comes good. Work the productive water thoroughly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Others close at hand: Drug Lake out at 1.4 km, Barren Lake the better part of 2.2 km, Dunbar Lake out at 2.4 km, Sucker Lake the better part of 2.4 km and Fish Lake out at 2.8 km. This one sits near enough to a boundary to be worth checking.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name American eel, rainbow smelt, alewife, Atlantic salmon and striped bass. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Work Black Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The year swings from about -7°C in February to roughly 18°C in August. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly mid December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Time your trip to Black Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Drug Lake sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Black Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
