Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a faint NNW drift and steady pressure. Biggars Lake should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Night
Set in Yarmouth County, Biggars Lake is a Nova Scotia water. The surface lies 24 metres up. At some 1.30 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The margin runs to about 8.0 km in total. Size puts it in the front rank of our Yarmouth County list. The town to know is Yarmouth, 30 km out. Shelburne is 40 km away, with Barrington at 43 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name American eel, yellow perch, Atlantic salmon, white perch and alewife. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Biggars Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The year swings from about -4°C in February to roughly 17°C in August. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Ice-out usually falls in early April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate figures give an open season running early April to late December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Biggars Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Louis Lake, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Biggars Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
