Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a consistent blow out of the SSW with the glass holding level. On Lawrence Pond, work the margins and any overhead cover first. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Newfoundland and Labrador holds Lawrence Pond, in Conception Bay South. Height above sea level is 36 metres. The water covers some 23 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 2.5 km, small enough to learn in a day. You are 5.3 km from Conception Bay South. Harbour Main-Chapel's Cove-Lakeview lies 10 km off, Holyrood another 11 km. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name Atlantic cod, American eel, brown trout, Atlantic salmon and capelin. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Fish Lawrence Pond where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
The seasonal spread runs -5°C to 16°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. On average, late April opens the water and late December closes it again. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lawrence Pond runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lance Cove Pond sits 1.5 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lawrence Pond carry more weight than any list.
