Mist hanging over the margins today, with a busy SSW wind on the open water with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Wolf Lake around the margins and the shelf beyond them. Not a day the forecast likes; the evening keeps a flicker of interest. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Wolf Lake is one of the Kings County waters in New Brunswick. Tidal water begins 5.1 km from here. About 2 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Our Kings County list holds plenty of bigger water. Nearest place of any size is Fundy-St. Martins, 21 km away. The nearest city of size is Dartmouth, 162 km away. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Kings County include alewife, Atlantic salmon, yellow perch and brook trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Wolf Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Between January at about -8°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid April and starts locking again about early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It holds true on Wolf Lake more years than not.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Dowdall Lake at 4.5 km is the sensible second choice. For Wolf Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
