Fog slow to lift off the water today, with a light chop building from the WSW and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Snowshoe Lake around points where shallow meets deep. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short.

You will find Snowshoe Lake in Queens County, New Brunswick. What surrounds it is pine and birch. With some 31 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 2.3 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Supplies mean a trip to Salisbury, 35 km off. Beyond it, Petitcodiac at 36 km and Chipman at 36 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fish documented in Queens County include yellow perch, alewife and pumpkinseed. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Snowshoe Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Seasonal averages run from -10°C in January up to 18°C in July. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid April. Climate averages put the opening at about mid April and the closing near early December. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Snowshoe Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Lower Lake is 3.1 km off. None of that is settled for Snowshoe Lake in what we hold.
