Mist hanging over the margins today, with a soft SSW wind with the glass holding level. On Loch Alva, work the calm side of the wind first. Quiet conditions all day, with the evening marginally better. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Loch Alva stands in Kings County, New Brunswick. The surface lies 38 metres up. It measures some 7.71 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. You have roughly 29 km of edge to choose from, which rewards a scouting trip. It is the biggest water on our Kings County list. For a base, Grand Bay-Westfield sits 6.7 km out. For a city, Dartmouth is 226 km off. Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Kings County: alewife, Atlantic salmon and yellow perch. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Loch Alva gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Climate records put August near 18°C and January near -9°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Averages place the thaw at mid April and the freeze at early December. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Plan around that when you fish Loch Alva.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. If the gate is shut, Elizabeth Lake at 2.2 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Loch Alva in what we hold.
