No direct sun expected today, with a light NNW breeze and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Indian Lake should come off the margins and the shelf beyond them. Quiet conditions all day, with the evening marginally better. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Night
Look for Indian Lake in the York County part of New Brunswick. Elevation runs to 132 metres. Roughly 57 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Around 4.1 km of margin, front to back. Lakeland Ridges is the closest town at 17 km. Nackawic-Millville is 23 km away, with Manners Sutton at 30 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. York County records list smallmouth bass, Atlantic salmon, pumpkinseed and yellow perch among the fish reported. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Indian Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
In an average year July sits at 19°C and January at -10°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid April. On average, mid April opens the water and early December closes it again. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. That is the shape of the year on Indian Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Pear Lake, 3.8 km away. Rules at Indian Lake are worth checking on the day.
