Solid cloud cover today, with a whisper of wind from the E with a settled glass. Most of the action on Phoebe Lake should come off the margins and the shelf beyond them. The best of it runs afternoon into evening. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Phoebe Lake lies within the bounds of Manitoba. The bank is 347 metres above sea level. The water covers around 1.39 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The edge covers about 12 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Supplies mean a trip to Pelican Narrows, 194 km off. Further out sit Snow Lake (202 km) and Flin Flon (208 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On Phoebe Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort. Watch the surface for movement before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -25°C. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about mid May. Averages suggest open water from about mid May through to roughly early November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. It holds true on Phoebe Lake more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Kekeso Lake sits 2.4 km off and takes the overflow. For Phoebe Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
