Pelican Lake Fishing Guide, Manitoba, Manitoba

• Overview

Pelican Lake belongs to Manitoba. It sits in lake country bush country. At 24.92 sq km you are fishing a fraction of it whatever you do. Size puts it in the front rank of our Manitoba list. The nearest place of any size is Norway House, 113 km away. Further out sit Oxford House (138 km) and Cross Lake 19A (141 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.

• Where to Fish on Pelican Lake

Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. At Pelican Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does. Watch for the line where weed gives way to clean bottom.

• Seasonal Patterns

Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -22°C at the bottom of winter. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to early November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Pelican Lake the season follows that pattern closely.

• Tackle & Baits

Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Should this one be busy, Salmon Lake is 11 km off. None of that is settled for Pelican Lake in what we hold.
