Drifting cloud with clear gaps tonight, with a consistent blow out of the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at North Twin Lake around the seam between weed and open water. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Manitoba end of Manitoba holds North Twin Lake. The surface lies 268 metres up. At about 57 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 4.7 km of margin, front to back. Head to Swan River, 61 km away, for anything you forgot. Hudson Bay is 133 km away, with Kamsack at 133 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. At North Twin Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does. Small features hold more than big empty water.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -17°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. At North Twin Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Failing this one, try Road Crossing Lake, 1.1 km away. For North Twin Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
