A clear night sky over the water, with a whisper of wind from the WNW and pressure sitting still. The fish at Nora Lake are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Nora Lake in the Manitoba part of Manitoba. Everything around it is pine and birch. The water covers around 3.17 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The shoreline runs about 23 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. For a base, Kenora sits 53 km out. Lac du Bonnet lies 74 km off, Moose Lake another 74 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The near bank of Nora Lake is often the one people ignore. Wind decides which bank is worth your time on the day.
Temperature averages peak at 19°C in July and bottom out at -19°C in January. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Nora Lake that shapes the whole year.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Kirk Lake, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback.
