Flat light and a covered sky today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Creer Lake should be near bays that hold the day's warmth. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Creer Lake is one of the Rossburn waters in Manitoba. Land around it is rolling bush. With some 75 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline length is close to 5.6 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Roblin lies 55 km from the water. Beyond it, Dauphin at 61 km and Langenburg at 64 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Open biodiversity records for Rossburn list northern pike, Iowa darter, white sucker, rainbow trout and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Work Creer Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -19°C in January. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. That is the shape of the year on Creer Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. The nearest alternative is Deep Lake, 4.7 km out. None of that is settled for Creer Lake in what we hold.
