Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W with the barometer flat. On Chubb Lake, work points where shallow meets deep first. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Keep moving until you find them. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Chubb Lake is one of the Manitoba waters in Manitoba. The surroundings are mixed forest. At about 20 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 2.3 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Our Manitoba list holds plenty of bigger water. 24 km away sits Roblin, the nearest town. Kamsack is 57 km away, with Langenburg at 73 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Treat Chubb Lake as a water to read rather than to cover. Sunken banks and old ditches show as changes in surface texture.
July runs about 17°C on average, January about -20°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. From about early May to around early November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan around that when you fish Chubb Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public mapping marks it as seasonal water rather than permanent. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Double Lake at 1.5 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Chubb Lake before loading the car.
