Thin cloud passing over the water tonight, with light air out of the SW and pressure sitting still. On Raup Lake, work points where shallow meets deep first. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Raup Lake in the Alberta part of Alberta. Height above sea level is 230 metres. About 1.13 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The edge covers about 6.3 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Alberta listings. Start from Fort Smith, 34 km down the road. Then Hay River, 244 km, and La Crête, 304 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Take Raup Lake a stretch at a time. The same spot fishes differently at either end of the day.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in July and bottom out at -24°C in January. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near early November in autumn. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Expect Raup Lake to follow that timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapped as intermittent, it fills after rain and shrinks between. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Flatgrass Lake, 37 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Raup Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
