Strong air moving over the water all day, with a proper ripple driven from the WNW with a settled glass. Start the search at Pullar Lake along inflow corners and shaded margins. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Pullar Lake in the Lac la Biche County part of Alberta. It sits at 595 metres above sea level. At some 1.42 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The edge covers about 6.1 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Lac La Biche at 38 km is the nearest place to stop. Then Bonnyville, 60 km, and St. Paul, 72 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Reported across Lac la Biche County: northern pike, yellow perch, white sucker, walleye and Iowa darter. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Work Pullar Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about mid November in an average year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. It sets the rhythm of the year at Pullar Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. The nearest alternative is Pinehurst Lake, 4.5 km out. Where Pullar Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
