Wind the main story today, with a persistent wind from the WNW with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Peno Lake around the first drop-off and weed lines. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Alberta holds Peno Lake, in Lamont County. The country here is boreal forest. With some 34 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline length is close to 6.0 km, and each section fishes a little differently. Most waters listed here for Lamont County are larger. Some 21 km away sits Lamont, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Edmonton, 67 km distant. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Peno Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics. If bites stop, change depth before you change everything else.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -15°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. The season between ice runs from about late April to mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Peno Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Skaro Lake at 2.2 km is the sensible second choice. Treat Peno Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
