Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a whisper of wind from the SE and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Driedmeat Lake around the calm side of the wind. The productive run goes afternoon into evening. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Driedmeat Lake lies within the bounds of County of Camrose No. 22, Alberta. Height above sea level is 681 metres. At roughly 12.41 sq km it ranks among the larger waters in the region. The outline measures near 46 km, so a boat opens up water the bank never reaches. Nearest place of any size is Camrose, 18 km away. Beyond it, Wetaskiwin at 43 km and Millet at 55 km. Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
We hold no depth figure for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, rainbow trout and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Take Driedmeat Lake a stretch at a time.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -13°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid April. On average, mid April opens the water and mid November closes it again. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Driedmeat Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Being dammed, it draws down in some seasons and fills in others. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Mirror Lake sits 18 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Driedmeat Lake are worth checking on the day.
