Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a faint SE drift with the glass holding level. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Buffalo Lake. Plan around the stretch from afternoon into evening. Keep moving until you find them. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Buffalo Lake is one of the County of Stettler No. 6 waters in Alberta. The water sits 775 metres up. Surface area runs to some 86.19 sq km, so a boat and a plan are both worth having. Long inlets mean the far ends can be calm while the main body is rough. Stettler is the closest place, 24 km off. Red Deer sits 65 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth figures are not published for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish Buffalo Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep. Fish the shade line as the sun moves round.
The warm month here averages 16°C; the cold one sits at -12°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. The season between ice runs from about late April to mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Anyone fishing Buffalo Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Rockeling Bay at 10 km is the nearest alternative.
