No cloud to trap the day's warmth tonight, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSW and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Boundary Lake will be around inflow corners and shaded margins. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

This water sits in County of Grande Prairie No. 1, Alberta. It sits at 1,155 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 32 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Bank access stretches around 2.0 km in total. Nearest place of any size is Beaverlodge, 75 km away. Further out sit Wembley (80 km) and Tumbler Ridge (85 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name longnose sucker, white sucker, largescale sucker and Arctic grayling. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Take Boundary Lake a stretch at a time.
Averages here run 13°C at the top of summer and -9°C at the bottom of winter. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Boundary Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Trap Lake is 2.1 km distant. None of that is settled for Boundary Lake in what we hold.
