Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with mild air moving in from the SW with the barometer flat. Fish at Belyea Lake should hold close to structure within a cast of the bank. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Belyea Lake lies in Improvement District No. 24, in Alberta. The ground around here is taiga. At some 1.33 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The perimeter runs near 14 km, so plan the walk before you start. Fort Smith is the closest place, 117 km off. Beyond it, Fort McMurray at 320 km and Hay River at 350 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
We hold no depth figure for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Public occurrence data for Improvement District No. 24 names goldeye, northern pike, walleye and cisco. The county list is broader than any single water. Belyea Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -24°C. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid May. The open-water window runs from around mid May to about late October in an average year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Anyone fishing Belyea Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Colin Lake, 8.4 km out. None of that is settled for Belyea Lake in what we hold.
