Stars out and no cloud tonight, with light air out of the SW with a settled glass. Give reed fringes and open pockets the first hour at Barrow Lake. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

This water sits in Improvement District No. 24, Alberta. The setting is northern bush. About 3.31 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The perimeter runs near 13 km, so plan the walk before you start. The nearest place of any size is Fort Smith, 92 km away. Then Fort McMurray, 281 km, and Hay River, 308 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Improvement District No. 24 records list goldeye, northern pike, walleye and cisco among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Barrow Lake should walk it once before setting up.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -24°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Climate figures give an open season running early May to early November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan any trip to Barrow Lake around it.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Ryan Lake sits 11 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Barrow Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
