A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with an easy breeze from the E with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lake Josephine will be around the margins and the shelf beyond them. A broad window opens from the day. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. The season is young; the warm corners hold the life.

Lake Josephine lies in Harvey, Western Australia. This is scrub and brush ground. With some 13 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Our Harvey list holds plenty of bigger water. The town to know is Binningup, 4.7 km out. After that come Leschenault at 16 km and Australind at 19 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Salt or brackish and tidal: fish the flow, rest at slack, and watch the mud on a falling tide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records collected within a few miles name South Australian roughy, sea trumpeter and western pygmy perch. It is a record of sightings and surveys, so use it as a guide. Lake Josephine fishes better once you know its edges.
Averages move between 13°C in July and 23°C in February. Cold never shuts this water down; heat is the only limit. Season rules are a separate question. The shoulder seasons either side of summer are the ones to aim for. The wet months move levels about, which shifts the fishing with them. Expect Lake Josephine to follow that timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. A car park sits roughly 560 m away. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lake Preston at 16 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lake Josephine should be assumed from this page alone.
