Hard light and clear air over the water, with a decent NNW wind working the banks and a falling glass. Activity on Lake Alice should centre on the calm side of the wind. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Settle in and let the day develop. A hot one: dawn and dusk will out-fish everything between.

This water sits in Derby-West Kimberley, Western Australia. This is warm bottomland country. With some 21 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Derby is the closest place, 37 km off. Further out sit Dampier Peninsula (111 km) and Roebuck (132 km). This is the only water of any size in the immediate country. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Time trips to the tide table rather than the clock here. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include bobby. Reported species tell you what lives around here, nothing more. Work Lake Alice in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Long-run averages give December about 32°C and July about 22°C. Nothing shuts down for cold, so the question is when in the day to go. The shoulder seasons either side of summer are the ones to aim for. Early spring brings the water on quickly here. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lake Alice.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. What applies at Lake Alice may have changed since it was mapped.
