A cloudless sky and strong light today, with a busy E wind on the open water with the barometer flat. The fish at Broke Inlet are likely to sit near the edges of the current. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Rising water temperatures are moving fish shallower by the week.

Manjimup in Western Australia is where Broke Inlet sits. It sits at 2 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to some 45.47 sq km, so a boat and a plan are both worth having. With about 48 km of shoreline, local advice saves a lot of walking. It is the biggest water on our Manjimup list. Pemberton lies 66 km from the water. Mandurah sits 276 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No regional boundary comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The tide is the timetable on this water; two hours either side of the change usually fish hardest. The channel is where water moves, and fish follow it. Oyster and old piling give the only hard structure in sight. Public wildlife records from this area list black bream, flathead grey mullet, western pygmy perch, nightfish and goldlined seabream. Check the state or provincial list before planning around one species. At Broke Inlet light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Averages here run 20°C at the top of summer and 12°C at the bottom of winter. Winter is the comfortable season here rather than the difficult one. Spring, September into November, and autumn, March into May, are the strong stretches. April and May steady things again after the summer heat. Broke Inlet runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the carp, bait a margin spot and sit on it; corn and bread still work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Walpole Inlet is 26 km off.
