Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a light chop building from the SSE and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Ringwood Lake should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. The numbers single out the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The spring warm-up puts fish on the sunny banks.

Victoria holds Ringwood Lake, in Maroondah. Beyond the shoreline you have pine and hardwood. The whole thing is a single swim; walk it in a minute. Supplies mean a trip to Ringwood, 0.5 km off. It is 24 km to Melbourne, the nearest city. Neighbouring water: Cogley Lake after 11 km, Sutton Lake the better part of 11 km, Hill Lake after 11 km, Silvan Reservoir the better part of 16 km and Sugarloaf Reservoir after 17 km. The boundary is close enough to be worth checking before you fish.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Open occurrence data for the surrounding area lists shortfin eel, roach and common carp. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Ringwood Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Climate normals give 20°C for February and 9°C for July. Winter here means light layers, not lost months. Spring runs September to November and autumn March to May, and both fish well. Spring, September into November, fishes hardest, with autumn a close second. Time your trip to Ringwood Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Accessible Parking holds the nearest mapped parking, 100 m out. Public toilets are recorded roughly 70 m off. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Cogley Lake, 11 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Ringwood Lake for certain.
