A clear night sky over the water, with light air out of the E and a rising glass. Lake Euramoo should fish best around the shallows early and the drop later today. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Spring rewards the bank that catches the sun.

Set in Tablelands, Queensland, this is Lake Euramoo. Elevation runs to 732 metres. Compared with other Queensland water on our list, it sits high. 13 km away sits Yungaburra, the nearest town. Tolga is 16 km away, with Gordonvale at 18 km. Others worth noting: Lake Tinaroo within 5.2 km, Lake Barrine just 10 km, Lake Eacham within 14 km, Lake Morris just 20 km and Lake Mitchell within 48 km. A regional boundary runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include barramundi, Australian longfinned eel, brown trout and mozambique tilapia. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Lake Euramoo for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
In an average year January sits at 23°C and July at 16°C. Heat, not cold, shapes the year here. Summer, December to February, brings heat, so fish the early and late hours. Summer, December to February, brings heat, so fish early and late. That is the shape of the year on Lake Euramoo.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Parking is at Euramoo Crater Parking, some 230 m off. Somewhere to sit and eat is 560 m out. Toilets show in mapping about 530 m away. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lake Tinaroo, 5.2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Lake Euramoo locally before you travel.
