A clear night sky over the water, with light air out of the NE and no real change in pressure. The water to cover at Lake Belmore is the weed line and any gaps in it. The useful hours run night into morning. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. A heavy, hot day; the coolest water wins.

Set in Croydon, Lake Belmore is a Queensland water. It stands 133 metres above sea level. It measures some 1.02 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. The shoreline runs about 5.3 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Normanton is the closest town at 138 km. Karumba is 169 km and Dimbulah 323 km. This is the only water of any size in the immediate country. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include banded grunter. It reflects what has been logged, which depends on who was looking. The shape of Lake Belmore rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The seasonal spread runs 21°C to 30°C. Winter is simply the pleasant end of an unbroken season. Spring, September into November, and autumn, March into May, are the strong stretches. Winter is cool and quiet, and often the most comfortable time to be out. The season on Lake Belmore rarely departs from it.
We hold no note on access for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A launch point is recorded some 320 m off. Fishing from a pier is possible 270 m away. Facilities include toilets around 290 m from here. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For Lake Belmore in particular, ask before you travel.
